MIXED MEDIA USING AN
INTUITIVE PROCESS

Class description:
This exploratory workshop will introduce a variety of techniques used to create mixed media artwork. Students will push themselves to explore their own individual style and talents in new and different ways. We will practice the process of working intuitively as we work towards creating a finished piece of art or series or works. Beginning and experienced artists welcome!
What to bring:
- 2 or 3 prepared work surfaces
- wood panels, canvas, multi-media panels, stretched watercolor paper
- small sizes like a 6×6 or 8×10… No larger than 12×12 (do not have to match)
- a printed copy of at least one quote,word or image that means something to you (printed from a computer printer)
*If you want to try a transfer you can print your words backwards by saving it as a picture then flipping the image before printing it out. OR email it to me and I will do it for you! (HiDebraSue@gmail.com)
- Your cell phone (charged to use as a camera)
- Bring your own: water cup + scissors + pencil + matte or gloss medium (and a water spray bottle if you have one)
- Mixed media – This means there is no set supply list, bring what YOU like to work with, here are my suggestions:
- Acrylic paints + a variety of brushes and any palette
- Paint markers
- Watercolors, watercolor pencils, brusho powders + brushes
- Variety of paper scraps, tissue paper, pictures torn from books & magazines
- Cloth scraps & ribbon
- Drawing pencils
- Oil pastels
- Stencils and stamps
- Found objects

Short Bio:
Debra Sue Solecki, an art educator and artist inspired by the natural environment grew up on the shores of Lake Erie. She creates beautiful work using a variety of media, exploring subjects like dragonflies, lotus, trees and mushrooms. Her art encourages viewers to appreciate and protect the natural world by layering meaning and detail to invite deeper reflection. With decades of teaching experience, Debra Sue is passionate about sharing her love of art and storytelling through her work.
