ABOUT WORKSHOPS
Club workshops are designed for all levels of artistic experience and skill, and provide a variety of mediums taught by experienced instructors. Club member input helps determine classes offered. Typically, there are monthly workshops, as well as one or two multi-day workshops throughout the year.
2025 Workshops typically begin at 9 a.m. at the Masonic Lodge located at 118 Monroe St in Port Clinton, Ohio, and end by 4:30 p.m. Detailed information such as a supply list, or the biography of the instructor will be available just prior to the workshop.
Pricing for Workshops at the Masonic Lodge are:
One Day – $20/Member or $45/Non-Member.
Two Day – $40/Member or $90/Non-Member.
MORNINGS ONLY – $10 per day /members or $22.50 per day/non-members.
Note: Occasionally workshops may have a different pricing structure and that will be noted in the workshop information worksheet.
LUNCH OPTIONS
Workshop attendees are invited to join the group for lunch at a nearby restaurant.
Prefer to do your own thing? You’re also welcome to bring your own lunch or make your own dining plans.

Oils – Still Life
Study on Composition
Taught by TRICIA KAMAN
In Tricia Kaman’s Oils – Still Life Study on Composition workshop, participants explored the beauty of classical still life painting through thoughtful composition, light, and color. Tricia guided each artist in developing their own vision while emphasizing structure, balance, and harmony within the scene. The two-day workshop was filled with creativity, focus, and fun as members gained new insights and confidence in their oil painting skills. ACRYLICS – ABSTRACT PAINTNIG
Taught by Marsha Gray Carrington
In Marsha Gray Carrington’s vibrant and expressive workshop, artists explored the world of acrylic abstracts through bold color, dynamic movement, and creative freedom. Participants learned how to loosen up their brushwork, experiment with layering, and trust their instincts while building powerful compositions. Marsha guided the group with warmth and encouragement, helping each artist discover their own unique voice within abstraction. One of the highlights was watching Marsha demonstrate how to transform spontaneous marks into striking works of art, showing just how limitless abstract painting can be. Students left inspired, energized, and ready to continue their artistic journeys with a fresh sense of confidence and creativity.

MIXED MEDIA USING AN
INTUITIVE PROCESS
Taught by DEBRA SUE SOLECKI
Instructor Debra Sue Solecki led a vibrant and inspiring Mixed Media Using an Intuitive Process workshop, guiding participants to explore mark making, layering, and spontaneous creativity. Artists of all levels enjoyed experimenting with a variety of materials while learning to trust their instincts and let the artwork evolve naturally. The day was filled with laughter, color, and creative freedom — leaving everyone energized and excited to keep creating long after the workshop ended!

CHARCOAL, SOFT PASTELS
OBSERVATIONAL PORTRAITURE
Taught by Bruce Budd
In Bruce Budd’s powerful and immersive workshop, participants learned how to create detailed, realistic portraits using charcoal and soft pastels, with a strong focus on structure, shading, depth, and texture. Artists explored the foundations of observational portraiture while gaining new confidence in their ability to bring faces to life with emotion and precision. One of the most unforgettable moments was watching Bruce demonstrate his extraordinary talent, painting with both hands at once to create a mirrored portrait. Bruce is a one-of-a-kind instructor who teaches with deep emotion and passion, leaving his students inspired not only by his techniques but by the heart and soul he brought to this workshop.

In May 2025, our workshop bloomed with color and creativity as we explored the expressive world of soft pastels. Guided by Rebecca Booth, participants learned techniques for layering and blending soft pastels on sanded paper to create vibrant, textured floral compositions. The focus was on capturing the delicate beauty and structure of flowers using light, shadow, and rich pastel pigments. With expert tips on color harmony and composition, artists of all levels deepened their understanding of this versatile medium while creating stunning botanical works.

In January 2025, our workshop centered on honing drawing skills. Diane Chaplin led sessions on ‘Drawing on the Right Side of the Brain,’ capturing real-life objects, and working with a live model. Kaycee Cousins, a member of our club, posed for these live sessions. Paege Murphy guided us through one and two-point perspective techniques.
